The websites that I explored seem to really have a lot of poems from people that are interested in posting their poems for the public to read. I had a lot more trouble finding poetry that I enjoyed from the poetry foundation because there seemed to be a larger selection. I enjoyed how you could narrow your search based on the theme and titles. This helped me read the poetry that I enjoy instead of taking hours to scan through material I would not enjoy. Both websites allowed for the user to limit their search but I believe the poetry foundation was more efficient in the process. I would give the Poetry Outloud website a 3/5 and the Poetry Foundation a 4/5 because of the ease of use and total access to tons of information. I think they could improve by adding a 'most popular' or 'best rated' section to really entice their users to enjoy what others enjoy, this could cause a snowball effect and soon BAM! a poem or poet could become famous!
Cloud Fishing
Related Poem Content Details
To fish from a cloud in the sky
You must find a comfortable spot,
Spend a day looking down
Patiently, clear-sighted.
Peer at your ceiling:
Where a light dangles, hook & line
Could be slipping through.
Under the hull of a boat
A fish will see things this way,
Looking up while swimming by —
A wavering pole’s refraction
Catching its eye.
What will you catch?
With what sort of bait?
Take care or you’ll catch yourself,
A fish might say,
As inescapable skeins of shadow
Scatter a net
Over the face of the deep.
I agree that would be a great addition to the website. I really enjoyed the imagery in the poem you picked. How the variations of self and fish were used to portray the different insights.
