Morgan, your presentation on Rita Dove was very well put together. You were very outgoing with the subject matter and I could easily tell that you were interested in her work. The way you described her style and her life made it very easy to understand and follow along. I thought it was so interesting that Dove loved dancing and incorporated that into her writing; very original. Also it was so impressive how many awards and trips to the White House that she's made and I'm sure will make again. The only critique I have is then when we were analyzing I was kind of confused when the presentation was over and maybe something for the future would just figure out a way to wrap up the presentation in a more organized way. Overall you did an amazing job, great job Morgan!
ReplyDeleteMorgan,I loved your presentation. I was very impressed by how well the presentation was put together. It's very interesting that Rita Dove was the first and youngest African American poet laureate of the United States. I think you did a good job on including quotes from Rita Dove, it gives us a better understanding of Rita Dove. My favorite quote from Rita Dove is “Poetry is language at its most distilled and most powerful.” Poetry is a very powerful tool and is one of the highest forms of self expression. One small critique that I have is maybe spend a little bit more time on analyzing her poems. Overall, I think you did a great job on your presentation.

Morgan explained the themes of her writing very well, and really showed off her knowledge on the subject. I really enjoyed this presentation. There were plenty of visuals which made it really easy to follow along and stay interested. I liked the poems that were picked for the class to read, I think they did a good job of representing Rita's work as a whole. I really enjoyed the entire presentation, and I think Morgan delivered it really well.

ReplyDeleteOne of the things that I liked about your presentation that most were the quotes. "Poetry is language at its most distilled and most powerful." That was about the only one that I had time to scribble down. If I have to say something bad it would be that the poem that we read and did the analysis together was not finished, it was only the first piece of it. Nothing major though. You seemed to have a good balance between her life; accomplishments and well life, and her works of poetry, and thoughts on poetry as well. It was great.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed how you started the presentation with all the quotes from Rita Dove because it gave us some insight to who she was before getting into all of the information. I felt like I had a connection to her because I was born in Akron Ohio and share her love for Swenson's. I felt like you did a great job at presenting the information and seemed to really know what you were talking about. I think that your presentation was very well spoken, prepared, and relevant. I don't have any criticism to your presentation. Great Job Morgan.
ReplyDeleteYour presentation was very interesting! I really enjoyed the audio to get a feel of her voice with her work. It was cool that she made many trips to the Whitehouse and to have a quote from Obama about her work.Her themes were very strong dealing with issues that are still struggled with today. Her quotes in the beginning gave a great insight to her views and was a cool introduction. You were very well prepared and knowledgeable with your presentation. I liked the personal connecton with Swensons it added a unique touch. With the analysis of the poems it would have been nice to finsh the poem to have a completed sense of understanding of it but overall great job!
